Black Walnut Tree (Juglans nigra)

Description: This black walnut boasts a magnificent canopy and is one of the larger specimens in the state. Its deeply ridged bark and dark brown nuts make it stand out in the landscape, especially in autumn.

Address: On the University of Minnesota campus, just west of Peik Hall on the Knoll.
